Greetings. I do hope that all is well.
I have made a post on goals before, but today I wanted to talk more about it as well as share with you a few of my current goals and my vision board.
I am a visual and tactile learner, so having things before me where I can see and interact with them is particularly important to me.
A huge step in setting a goal is learning about yourself and what you want. Because of this, your goals may change depending on where you are in your life and what resources you have.
For example, you may want to go back to school, but due to the pandemic, your family, and/your financial status, the steppingstones, or smaller goals may look different than another person’s and that is okay.
Or you may want to get better grades but you are going to school online or you have a long commute, you are working part-time, or you have other responsibilities.
However, you have to ask why do you want to go back to school? or Why you want better grades?
Is it to finish a degree that you had deferred? Start a new degree? To climb the ladder at work? Or to learn something new?
Or for example, no.2, is it to get into the honour program, get/ keep a scholarship, or just because you know you can do better?
Finding your 'whys' will aid in forming your steppingstones. If you are going back to school because you’d like to climb the ladder at work, maybe your job can pay for the class or reimburse you- that changes the financial barriers.
Additionally, for example, number two, if it's because you know that you can do better, maybe you will have to cut down on some of your other responsibilities.
Once you have figured out your 'whys', you can then look to form SMART goals. You can read my post here to find out more about that.
SMART goals will help you to zone in on what you want, as well as keep you accountable.
You Don't Have to Be EXTREME, Just CONSISTENT.

Something that was brought to me by Amy Landino was the importance of reviewing your goals. I have now created set dates where I can take an hour or two out of my schedule to evaluate my efforts in achieving my goals and reflect on what works and what doesn't.
Amy suggested reviewing your goals 1 month, then 3 months, then 6 months, and then a year after creating them.
I can also take this time to remove, defer, or add goals depending on how my life is looking.
For example, as much as I am torn, I had to put off completing my book, Garden of Hope.
Another thing that I have implemented is having an accountability partner. Once a month I will meet with this person, and we share our goals and how we plan to achieve them.
Additionally, a few times during the month we will check in with each other to assess the other person’s progress, listen to their struggles, and encourage them.
You do not have to tell them all your goals and you could probably have multiple accountability partners- one for work and one for exercise. I would not have more than three though.
A Recap:
We have to figure out what we want and why we want it before we can set a goal.
After we figure that out, we then can make smart goals and create set dates to review those goals and analyze our progress.
Bonus* find an accountability partner. Have this be a trustworthy person who will support you and allow you to support them.
My Goals
I have various goals. This year I created a goals page in my planner where I wrote down my personal goals for my life as well as goals for Simply Anna Reece.
I also got the idea from thiswellplannedlife to create a dashboard using Canva.
As said before, I am a visual and tactile learner.
So, I used this planner dashboard to help me see the things I want. As you can see there are a lot of flowers and self-care pictures on it. I believe that the best way to serve others is to first make sure that I am taken care of. Thus, my health is a huge focus, not only for this year but hopefully for the rest of my life.
Implementing Amy’s suggestion has helped my tactile efforts as I have the blank page to write down the assessments of my goals. These assessments as well as the goals themselves can be reviewed often, and I can always add more paper as the need arises.
A Few of My Goals this Year so Far Include:
1. As noted before: self-care. This goes beyond taking time off and includes spending time with God, reading books, journaling, exercise, communicating with myself and those around me, and more.
2. I would like to implement morning and night routines because I’d like to have more time and energy in the days to get things completed. I also hope that this will help to limit procrastination.
3. I would also like to create a stronger community within Simply Anna Reece because I view you as a supporter of my goals and I’d like to support you as well. I’d like to be more consistent with my posting and engaged with the content that I view. So, tag me in your pictures and/or DM me your goals.
That’s it for now. Keep safe and until next time, Peace be.
